The 2026 season came to a memorable close for the De La Salle golf program as the Spartans finished second at the CIF State Championships, highlighted by an individual state title from junior Drue Sanchez.
Competing against the top teams and golfers from across California, De La Salle once again proved it belongs among the state's elite programs. The Spartans' runner-up finish capped another remarkable postseason run that included East Bay Athletic League (undefeated), North Coast Section and Northern California championships.
Leading the way was Sanchez, who delivered a championship-caliber performance to capture the CIF Individual State Championship. The junior battled through a talented field and showcased the consistency and composure that have defined his season. Sanchez became the first Spartan golfer to win the individual state title!! He has cemented a place for himself in the storied history of the program by earning one of the highest honors in high school golf.
Sanchez's victory was the centerpiece of a strong team effort that placed the Spartans second overall in the state standings. Throughout the season, De La Salle relied on its depth, experience, and ability to perform under pressure, and that formula was once again on display at the state championship.
The runner-up finish concludes one of the most successful seasons in program history. The Spartans captured their sixth consecutive North Coast Section championship, claimed the Northern California Regional title, and finished as the No. 2 team in California while producing the state's individual champion.
