The De La Salle Track & Field team capped off an outstanding 2026 season with a sixth-place finish at the CIF State Championships in Clovis, earning the highest finish of any Northern California boys program and solidifying its place among California's elite.

Competing against the best athletes in the state, the Spartans delivered impressive performances across multiple events, highlighted by podium finishes from sophomore Damari Dean and junior Chase Young.

Dean continued his remarkable breakout season by earning a runner-up finish in the boys long jump, claiming second place in one of the most competitive events at the meet. The sophomore's performance capped a season that saw him emerge as one of the state's premier sprinters and jumpers.

Young once again showcased his versatility and toughness on the biggest stage. The junior hurdler placed third in the 110-meter hurdles, adding another state medal to his growing list of accomplishments. He also scored valuable team points with a seventh-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles, helping propel the Spartans into the top six of the final team standings.

De La Salle's sprint relay squad added to the team's success by earning sixth place in the 4x100-meter relay against a field loaded with the fastest teams in California. The relay's performance continued a season-long trend of excellence in the sprint events and contributed crucial points to the Spartans' team total.

The sixth-place finish at the state meet serves as a fitting conclusion to a memorable season that included EBAL, NCS Tri-Valley, and NCS Meet of Champions titles. Along the way, the Spartans established themselves as the top boys track and field program in Northern California while competing toe-to-toe with the state's best.
