The De La Salle Track & Field team delivered another outstanding performance at the 2026 North Coast Section Meet of Champions this past weekend at Dublin High School, highlighted by event titles, relay championships, personal bests, and multiple athletes earning their way to the CIF State Championships.
Leading the way for the Spartans was junior hurdler Chase Young, who once again proved to be one of the top athletes in California. Young captured NCS titles in both the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, running a blazing 13.77 in the finals of the 110 hurdles and 38.08 in the 300 hurdles.
Sophomore standout Damari Dean continued his breakout season with an incredible weekend on the track and in the field. Dean earned a third place finish in the 100-meter dash (10.57) and second in the 200-meter dash (21.44), narrowly missing the title in the 200 by thousandths of a second. Dean also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 23-3.5.
The Spartan sprint relays were equally dominant throughout the meet. De La Salle's 4x100 relay team of Duece Jones-Drew, Damari Dean, Jayden Nicholas, and Dylan Rogers captured the NCS championship in a season-best 40.79 after also posting the top qualifying time in prelims.
In the 4x400 relay, the quartet of Dylan Scott, Dylan Rogers, Emery Speight, and Chase Young finished runner-up with an impressive 3:15.33, continuing the Spartans' strong tradition in the sprint relays.
Senior Jayden Nicholas added another strong performance by placing fourth in the 400 meters in 48.58 and also earning a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter finals. Dillon Gaber represented the Spartans well in the distance events, advancing to the finals of the 800 meters and finishing eighth overall in 1:56.71.
Additional strong performances came from Emery Speight, Dylan Rogers, Duece Jones-Drew, and Zian Crockett in the sprint events, while the Spartans' 4x800 relay team of Ryan Cabreira, Kingston Dinh Pham, Alex Pringle, and Michael Kirkham earned a seventh-place finish in a competitive field.
With multiple athletes advancing and momentum continuing to build, the Spartans now turn their attention to the CIF State Championships this weekend in Clovis.
