The Spartans wrapped up the dual-meet portion of the postseason with a gritty 2–2 showing at NCS Duals, a strong statement from one of the youngest lineups in the field.
Entering the event with eight first-year varsity starters and six freshmen in the lineup, the Spartans showed toughness and growth throughout the day. They opened with a dominant 63–13 win over Freedom High School, followed by a hard-fought 42–28 victory against Castro Valley High School.
Both losses came down to the wire. Against Granada High School, the dual was tied heading into the final bout, with the Spartans narrowly falling 39–33. The same story played out versus James Logan High School, where the team battled to the final match before coming up just short 34–28.
Despite the close defeats, the young Spartan squad proved they can compete with anyone and gained invaluable postseason experience.
Next up, the focus shifts to the EBAL Championships this Saturday, February 7, at Livermore High School. Led by senior captains Wyatt Ferguson and Cameron Shirazi, the Spartans enter as a proven high-scoring tournament team with one goal in mind: qualifying the entire lineup for NCS Divisionals at Newark Memorial High School.
The future is bright—and the post season run continues.
