The 31st annual De La Salle Nike Cross Country Invitational brought together many of the Bay Area's top programs Saturday at Newhall Park, with hundreds of athletes competing across varsity, junior varsity and frosh/soph races.

The meet featured standout performances throughout the day, led by Davis High School, which captured both varsity team titles. For the host Spartans, the day provided another valuable opportunity to compete against a deep and talented field. De La Salle finished seventh in the varsity boys team standings, posting a combined time of 1:24:36 and an average of 16:56. The Spartans placed five runners among the top 67 finishers, led by Michael Kirkham, who finished 17th overall in 16:12.7. (Diablo Timing)

The strong depth continued throughout the De La Salle program, with Spartans turning in competitive performances across the junior varsity and frosh/soph races. The meet's multiple divisions gave a large group of young runners the chance to race on the Newhall Park course against some of the area's strongest competition. (Diablo Timing)

With the Nike Invitational once again bringing an outstanding field to Concord, the Spartans gained another important early-season test and plenty of experience to build on as the cross country season continues.

The future is bright for DLS Cross Country, and Saturday's races provided another important step forward.
