De La Salle Hosts Annual Student-Athlete College Information Night for 150+ Attendees

De La Salle High School hosted its annual Student-Athlete College Information Night on Monday, October 26, bringing together college athletics administrators from five levels of collegiate competition to help students and families better understand the path to competing at the next level. The virtual event drew an audience of more than 150 participants on Zoom, highlighting the strong interest within the De La Salle community in learning more about the college recruiting process.

The evening featured a panel of experienced college athletics professionals representing NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college programs. Each panelist shared insight into the student-athlete experience and provided valuable guidance for families navigating the college recruiting process.

The 2026 panel featured Theresa Barsanti, Director of Compliance at Vanderbilt University (Division I); Marcie Haduca Covell, Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator at Cal State East Bay (Division II); Timothy Deman, Director of Athletics at Whitworth University (Division III); Steve Waldeck, Senior Associate Athletic Director at The Master's University (NAIA); and Tommy Abdenour, Director of Athletics at San Jose City College (Junior College).

Throughout the discussion, panelists addressed several key topics, including the student-athlete experience at the collegiate level, the types of scholarships available, and the steps involved in the recruiting process. They also offered practical advice on how prospective college student-athletes can best prepare themselves academically, athletically and personally for the opportunities ahead.
