This is Associate Athletic Director Derricke Brown’s 22nd season coaching soccer in the De La Salle program and his 15th season as the Spartans head coach. Coach Brown’s all-time record as Spartans head coach is 231-64-46 for a .745 winning percentage.
The Spartans have won 14 North Coast Section championships and Coach Brown has been a part of nine of those, including five as head coach.
Brown and De La Salle finished 19-5-3 last season and were the North Coast Section Division I runners-up, the California Interscholastic Federation Northern California Division I runners-up, and were the playoff champions in the East Bay Athletic League.
Matthew Rajecki was the EBAL Defensive Player of the Year and will play in college at Chico State. Namir Shlah and Ronan Rattigan were first team EBAL players and Rattigan will play at Sacramento State, while Flynn Salyapongse and Cian Rattigan will return for the 2025-2026 season after earning second team EBAL honors.
The Spartans, who have won 8 of the last 16 NCS Division I titles, have advanced to the semifinals in 13 of the last 16 playoff seasons and been in the championship game 12 times in those 16 years.
Coach Brown, who has been De La Salle’s Associate Athletic Director since 2008, has 27 years of coaching experience, including being St. Joseph Notre Dame’s head soccer coach from 2001-2003.
Coach Brown graduated from Saint Mary’s College with a BA in Communications and has a USSF C Coaching License.
