Spartan Athletics Weekly - March 7, 2022
This is a recap of the prior week’s action in DLS Spartans Athletics!
Basketball
The Spartans wrapped up their season in the NorCal opener against Riordan. DLS finished with another 20 win season, 22-6 overall.
Soccer
The soccer team came back from two goal deficits twice in a thrilling golden goal victory, 4-3 over Sanger HS in the NorCal first round match. The Spartans then traveled to Watsonville and came up a bit short via the dreaded penalty kick shootout. Final record was 20-6-2, also capturing EBAL and NCS championships.
Rugby
The De La Salle Rugby Team defeated Jesuit of Sacramento 45-10 to win the Northern California school title. The Spartans jumped out to a 26-3 lead and never looked back. We will now play #5 ranked Torrey Pines for the California Single School State championship on 3/12 at Saint Mary’s College in the stadium. 1pm start. Check the app for admission and also live stream information.
Volleyball
EBAL opener went well with a 3-0 win at Monte Vista. Amador Valley at home was a bit tougher, we dropped a 3-2 result there. Big week with SRV at home, Dublin on the road and then a Saturday evening at home vs SPSV.
Lacrosse
Games against Granada and Novato resulted in two wins with a combined score of 41-4, well done boys! We travel to the Menlo school on Tuesday for our lone game this week.
Baseball
Spartans kicked off opening day with a huge 10-0 win at Jesuit Sacramento. We then hosted highly ranked Buchanan on Saturday and came up a bit short in a tight game 3-2. Another tough week is upon us with games vs Dublin and then two roadies at Elk Grove and St. Francis.
Golf
The golfers are quietly going about their business as usual. 3-0 on the young season after low scores vs Monte Vista, Amador Valley and Dougherty Valley.
