Community in Action: De La Salle Lacrosse and SVdP Deliver Food and Hope to Local Families

On Saturday 11/22/25, our SVdP conference (branch) at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Concord worked with the De La Salle Lacrosse team to give out food and meal cards to over 130 families in need.

The students didn't just raise money—they showed up to help. They packed bags, handed out produce, and carried groceries to cars. Coach Christmas shared, "This distribution has been going on since before I became coach. It's great to see the boys really give back and get involved. I've been involved with this for 11 years now, and honestly we're going to keep doing it. It helps the community and really lets the boys live the values De La Salle teaches."

Tracy Musco, who helped organize the drive, said, "Every year the boys are so excited to do this food drive. They love helping people. I ask for maybe 8 to 10 students who want to volunteer, and we always have 20 to 30 who sign up." Her son Nick was one of the students helping carry food for families.

One of the volunteers, Sebastian Doyle, said, "This is my second year doing this and honestly it just feels great to help families enjoy Thanksgiving more. De La Salle teaches us about giving back, and it's nice to be able to put that into practice."

For many families, the help came at the right time. One guest, Malcom, said he's a federal employee who has been working without pay due to the government shutdown. "It really is a struggle right now. I've been working but not getting paid, and we just have to hope we do. But the food we're getting today is a blessing. It's gonna let my family have a Thanksgiving."
